She attended prep school at Science Hill Academy in Kentucky; attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky, and completed graduate studies in Social Work at Vanderbilt University.
As part of her active involvement with the Episcopal Church, she also completed her Education for the Ministry.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of St John's Episcopal Church. She served on the Salvation Army Board, was former President of the Tennessee Chapter of the Colonial Dames, and also was an active member of the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her 3 sons, James Duckworth of Memphis, Lewis Duckworth of Eads, TN, and William C. Duckworth, III of Edmond, OK, 2 grandchildren, Dexter W. Duckworth, and Coltrane Duckworth.
Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson, TN.
