Mildred was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for the family business, Davis Sales & Service. In addition to raising her family, Mildred and Arthur were active in their younger years as motorcyclists, later in boating, bowling and shuffle board, which they played professionally for many years. Mildred was a member of the USA National Suffleboard Hall of Fame as well as the Florida, Michigan and Ohio halls of fame. She was a member of Trailer Estates Convenant Church in Bradenton.
Survivors include her children: Carl L. Davis of Hickory, NC, Doris A. (Ronald) Menges of Granger and Paul E. (Diane) Davis of Ft. Wayne and Largo, FL; grandchildren: Leslie (Gary) Winey, Alyson Erwin, Amy Canarecci, Beth (David) Deal, Capri (Malcom) Burchett, Gwen Thompson, Timothy (Lesley) Davis, Stacy (Bruce) Hope and Kathryn (David) Shoffner; great grandchildren: Carrie (Daniel) Laidig, Rachel (Jeffrey) Panozzo, Dylan and Kelbe Thompson, Bonnie (Richard) Johns, Daniel Deal, Tyler and Ethan Burchett, Andrew and Morgan Davis, Carley Canarecci, Gavin Hope, Lane and Julie Shoffner, Andrew (Rachel) Winey and Meredith (Jason) Rancarz; great-great grandchildren: Gabriel and Emma Laidig and Cayden Rancarz; brother, William A. Charlton of Saline, MI; sister-in-law, Eileen Charlton of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Goldie Bogue, Marie Lewman, Edith Henry, May Stephens, Jean Fox, Everett, Virgil, Howard, Harold, Richard and Floyd Charlton.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2701 N. Memorial Dr., New Castle, with Pastor Paul Kirk officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice or the Memorial Wesleyan Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
