Charles W.Giesler,82,of Clear Lake,S.D.,formerly of Sioux City,Iowa,died Wednesday,Feb.25,in Clear Lake,S.D.Services will be 11a.m.Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church,in Sioux City,with Rev.Gregory J.Hanneman officiating.Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery,with military rites conducted by U.S.Naval Reserves.Charles was born June 13,1921,in Altamont,S.D.,son of Charles A.& Hattie(Bublitz)Giesler.Attending Public School 21.St.John's Lutheran Church,where baptisted on May 12,1929,confirmed on June 16,1935.Worked for Freedom Wells,trapped with his brothers.Joining U.S. Navy in 1938.22 years in the Navy,he boxed and plated baseball.Served on USS Saratoga,Warrington,Lough Santee,Europa and Dixon.Attained the rank of chief machinist mate.Retired in 1960,settled in Sioux City,worked at 185th Air Guard,Sioux City Air base until 1970.He married Karla Fahloh in Bremerhaven,Germany on Dec.24,1948,in Webster,S.D.Karla died June 12,1992.Survivors include daughters,Christa Kobold,Linda(Jack)Dexter;son Hans;sister,Mabel(Harold)Milton,Florence Winters;sister-in-law,LaVera Reihe;grandkids,Mike,James,Mark Kobold,Erika(Lee)Leacraft,Scott(Nancy)Greene,Jeremy(Gayla)Greene,Ryan,Bradly Giesler,Jennifer Neal,Randall,Karen Nellist;great-grandkids,Joseph,Briana,Ryan,Andrew,Darren,Brittany Greene,James,Rachel,Carly Kobold,Steven,Andrew,Malik,Nathen,Daniel,Nelson Leacraft.
