Born in New York City in 1844; died in Layafette, La., Tuesday, Nov. 29th, 1910.
His parents moved to middle Alabama when he was but a few months old. He was among the first students enrolled in St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis, Miss., when that institution opened; and after a course there, he entered the service of the Morgan Steam Ship Line. His connections with the Morgan Co. continued until his death a few days ago, a period of 45 years. He came to Morgan City in 1873, and resided here till 1905.
He married Miss Mary Eliza Grant, of East Pass (Pascagoula), Miss., who still survives, with their children, as follows:

He was laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 30th. Thus his mortal frame will crumble to dust, but his spirit will live on in the minds of those who come after him, and are acting out the motive of his life in the good impulses which they received from his faithful course.
