JACOB D AEBIG
LAIRD -- Jacob D Aebig, born in Waterloo County, Ontario, in 1862, died last week. When he was 18 he moved to the United States and he was married at Plymouth, Nebraska, in 1885. From there the couple moved to Laird in 1902. Mr. Aebig farmed until 1927, when we and his wife moved into town. A son, George, and two daughters, Emma and Amelia, predeceased Mr Aebig, and surviving are nine children, Mrs. William Zulauf, John, Krist, Jacob, Ester, William, Henry and Mrs. Roy Orth, all of Laird, and Mrs. A.W. Newton of Biggar. The funeral was held from Stoney Hill Lutheran Church.

Jacob D. Aeblg (1862-1941), who with his wife Mary (1866-1947) and family arrived in 1902 from Nebraska, settled on the NE4-44-5. Here he built a two-storey log house that served as a home for them, their five sons and three daughters, for many years to come. More wlll be said of him in the pages to follow for
he was the 'founder' of the Hamburg School District and served as a member of the School Board for six years.
