Mrs. Mary E. Abel, age 87 years, passed away at the residence, Rural Rout
e, Shoals, IN at 3:50 p.m. tuesday, September 1. She had been in faili
ng health since 1950, but was seriously ill for only five days. mrs. Ab
el was born in Orange county on June 20, 1866, the daughter of conrad a
nd Ann (Tolbert) Bullock. She was married twice. Her first husband, Jonat
han Morris, died in 1897. In 1900 she married nathan E. Abel. mr. Abel p
assed away in 1923. Mrs. Abel is survived by four sons, Issac Morri
s, of West Baden, IN; James H. Morris, of Rural Route, Shoals; Henson G. M
orris, of Vincennes, IN; and Willard A. Abel of Vincennes, IN; and one dau
ghter, Mrs. Ethel McCraken of West Baden, IN. Also surviving is a half-sis
ter; Mrs. Jenny Hendrick, of Wheatland., IN. She was a member of the Chu
rch of the Brethren. Friends may call at the Queen Funeral Home. Funer
al services will be conducted at the Queen Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Frida
