She was born July 25, 1939 in Anderson, IN, the daughter of Glen B. Pierce and Mildred (Frazier) Pierce. She has lived in Seattle, Washington for 30 years, returning to Alexandria in 1999. Carol was a graduate of Anderson High School-Class of 1957. She attended Taylor University in Upland and received her Bachelor's degree from Ball State University in Muncie. She taught in elementary education briefly in Anderson, Indianapolis, and on a military base in Germany. She retired from the Seattle, Washington school system in 1999 after 30 years of elementary teaching. She was a member of the Alexandria First Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship of the church. She was an excellent seamstress. Carol was a lover of animals, and for several years she and her mother were involved in taking pets to area nursing homes for the residents. She was also fond of the outdoors and especially gardening. Carol was a very giving person and shared so much of her life and love with others.
She is survived by several loving cousins and friends and especially her loving pets, Rosie, Molly and Kimmie.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1995; her mother in 2007; and an uncle, Everett Frazier.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison St., Alexandria, with Pastor Julia Goodall of the First Christian Church, Alexandria, officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery at Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria on Friday after 1 p.m. prior to the services.
