John Bruckner was born to Gottfried Paulas Bruckner. He married Emma Schuhmann and they had 10 children. He and Emma married in Travis County and had their first children there before moving to Johnson City, where he purchased part of the old Johnson family land. A stone barn he built is still there on display. His descendants sold the land to the government to be part of the LBJ National Park.
