Aside from her residence in this city, she has resided several other places, in all of which she has held responsible positions. She has been an active business woman all her life; for some time she was matron of the Rosebud Indian school located at Yankton, North Dakota. At Atchison, Kansas, she had a large green house; had charge of the Ladies' Exchange, and at various times had charge of prominent boarding houses. At the time of her death she was matron of the Phi Delta chapter house at Iowa City, in which capacity she proved most efficient and won the love of all with whom she came in contact...

"Members of the G.A.R. acted as pall-bearers, all of her brothers and two brother-in-laws having enlisted in the Civil war to fight for the cause of their country. In honor of the excellent family record the Fourth Iowa cavalry a few years ago made her an honorary daughter of the regiment...Interment was in the family lot in Forest Home cemetery."
