A telegram was received Saturday evening announcing the sudden death in Boston of Mrs Sarah H Bangs widow of Capt Elisha Bangs, who died in April 1886.Mrs Bangs was born in Brewster 78 years ago,and her maiden name was Foster. She was a sister of Mrs Bradley and Mrs Mayo who survive her.She joined the Unitarian Church with her husband,in March, 1856,and has been a consistent member who has faithfully kept her promise. At the morning service of Sunday last her pastor called attention to the bereavement in this way:The word has come of the departure into the spirit world of a helpful friend, whose example is worthy of remembrance.Mrs Elisha Bangs we shall greet no more during our earthly journey. She was a cordial and constant well-wisher of our good and, when her bodily strength sufficed, she did her part to promote it.She was a member of our church, a sympathizing companion in our worship,a devoted teacher in our Sunday School, and one to whom were were accustomed to look with unhesitating confidence for substantial material aid in our finances.Charitable she was and a patient continuer in well doing. The disposer of events has taken her from us,but we may believe the time is coming when we shall see her again, because she has gone to the father who is able to keep that which is entrusted to Him.He it is who holds all our souls in life and His accepted Son has gone to prepare a place for us all in the eternal home.
"When the weary ones we love
Enter on their rest above
Seems the earth so poor and vast
All our life-joy overcast?
Hush! Be every murmur dumb
It is only- Till He come."
Brief funeral services were held on Monday noon from the Unitarian Church.
