The remains of Mrs. Clarissa Cuddeback, who died with her daughter Mrs. Perry, of Newark, N. Y. were brought to this place for burial Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Cuddeback was born in this town and spent the most of her life here. Her maiden name was VanDeventer, a daughter of the late John VanDeventer one of the old settlers of Torrey. She was twice married. Her first husband was William Downey, who died in early manhood. She later married Jacob Cuddeback, whom she survived a number of years. She was one of a large family of children, but one of whom remains, Russell VanDeventer of this town, who is very feeble and aged. She was a lady much respected by all who knew her, and for many years was a member of the M. E church in this place.
