"After ten days' illness of acute bronchitis, Mrs. Fanny Stilwell Clark died at her home near Elk Creek, Thursday morning, February 16th. She was born in the town of Harpersfield, Delaware County, March 15, 1865, the daughter of Daniel and Henrietta Stilwell. Twenty-three years ago she became the wife of Homer Clark, who with the three sisters, Mrs. Adelbert Shelley, of Davenport Center and Mrs. John and Mrs. Jackson Van Wie of Schenevus and two brothers, S. B. Stilwell of Elk Creek and F. L. Stilwell of Hartwick, survive her. For fifteen years she has been confined to her bed and although a shut-in, she was cheerful and hopeful, an inspiration and blessing to all who were privileged to know her. The funeral was held from the Methodist Episcopal church at Elk Creek, Sunday, 2 p. m., and was largely attended. Interment in the Elk Creek cemetery. Relatives and friends from away who attended were: F. L. Stilwell and son, William, Hartwick; Mrs. Adelbert Shelley of Davenport Centre; Mr. and Mrs. Clark and Mr. Fagen of Hamilton; Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Van Hoesen, Mrs. Grant, Oneonta; Mrs. Beach and daughters; Mr. and Mrs. John Van Wie and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson Van Wie." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Feb. 14, 1911, p. 7]
