Jesse Ervan Brown grew up in the hills of northeastern OK and grew up fishing and working on cars!
Jesse was born to Herbert and Edna (Hibbs) Brown and had one brother, U.L. and a sister named Joyce.
Jesse attended high school at Little Kansas, OK and then joined the Navy. He served on the USS Shangri-la and was a Machinest Mate 3rd class. He was a proud vetran and loved his country.
Jesse came home from World War II and began working for Doenges Ford in Tulsa, OK. He married Laurette B. Gilchrist on September 17, 1949 in Tulsa and they had two children...Jesse II and Lanette.
He later purchased a DX Station Service and Repair.
After becoming a fan of motorboating, Jesse began a long career in the boat business in Tulsa...one that would follow him all his days. He was influential in the development of the tunnel-hull boats becoming the now popular bass fishing boats. He loved fast motors and loved fast cars. He built a Mercury motor that would power a Maltese Magnum boat to the finish and set a new record of 52.163 mph in 1968 at the SW Zone Race. He was a Mercury motor dealer for more than 30 years.
One thing can be remembered about Jesse Brown...one always knew where they stood with him and you could always be sure a practical joke was just around the corner! Shooting off firecrackers and shooting his trash can with his .22 pistol was a common laugh at his boat shop.
