She worked in wartime factories in Los Angeles after graduating from high school in Dayton, Idaho. Nelda and Leo were married and sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple on July 22, 1947, while students at what was then Utah State Agriculture College. They both graduated from Utah State in the same graduating class along with Nelda's father, brother and sister.
Nelda majored in art with an emphasis on clothing design and minored in English. Nelda and Leo moved from Utah to New Mexico and lived in Texas and Idaho before they purchased a dairy, in partnership with two of Leo's brothers, and moved their family to Tucson, Ariz., in 1965.
She served faithfully in her church in many capacities including ward and stake Relief Society president in Tucson.
She is survived by one sister, LuDean (Vance) Campbell; seven children, Kent (Beverly) Page, Gregg (Barbara) Page, Ivan (Dixie) Page, Janeen (Carl) Dewey, Jackie Mims, Teresa (Patrick) Grabinger, and Traci (Vincente) Diaz; 32 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. She was loved and admired by all her children and grandchildren as demonstrated by this statement made by her granddaughter Stephanie, "She knew how to be a grandma and I only hope I can be as good a one someday."
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Farmington 2nd Ward LDS church, 695 S. 200 East in Farmington Utah. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Graveside dedication services will be held at 4 p.m. in the Dayton, Idaho, Cemetery.
