Mitch McKeever Memorial funeral services for Mitch McKeever were held Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997 at 11:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church of Dows, with Rev. James R. Turner officiating. Family graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 9 at 10:30 at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Dows. Military rites were conducted by Watson-Beach Post #523 of the Dows American Legion. Mrs Mary Ann Denger was the organist and Don Bosch the soloist. Honorary casket bearers were William Chambers, Bruce Gipple, Daryl Gipple, Jerry Dime, Steve Kime, Ronald Kurkow, Steve Muhlenbruch, and Steve Tassinari. Mitch died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 5, 1997 at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. He was born in Morning Sun on May 27, 1924, the son of Harry and Daisy Nelson McKeever. He graduated from Morning Sun High School in 1946, after serving in the United States Navy from 1942 until 1945. On Oct. 6 1946, he was united in marriage to Donna Jean Owens and to this union four children were born. After their marriage, Mitch worked at the elevator in Olds for eight years and in 1954 they moved to Dows. While living in Dows, Mitch was employed by the Farmers Cooperative until retiring in 1986. On Oct. 6, 1996, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In November of 1996, they moved to the Meadows in Clarion. Survivors include his wife, Donna of Clarion; on son Danny and wife Maria of Norfolk, VA; three daughters, Christine and Husband Paul Yanney of Dows, Becky and husband Delbert Paulsen of Coulter; and Karyl and husband Chuck Bonjour of Dumont; nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great- grandchild, and one brother, Clinton of Houston, TX. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother killed in Korea, and two sisters. The Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.
