Editor notes--Mary Caroline Skiles was the first of seven children born to John Gettis Skiles and Sarah Jane Martin. She was born in Cumberland County Pennsylvania in 1847. The family made the trip to Ohio about 1854. She married to Samuel P Solinger, son of James Karnes Solinger, in Richland County on 3 Sep 1867. From this marriage, she had one child, a daughter, Effie Jane. Samuel Solinger died 1 Oct 1868, his daughter barely knowing him. Mary Skiles married Albert Bartley Cramer on 25 Dec 1876 (he too being previously married...his spouse passing away early that year). Two sons were the result of this marriage-Skiles Lloyd and Guy Woodburn.
