Noel Claude Armes, 77, of Springdale died July 3, 1994, at Springdale Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 31, 1916, in Kingston, the son of Joseph Newton and Mauda Ann Weathers Armes. He was a retired farmer and had been employed by Heekin Can Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 173rd Field Artillery, and a member of Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for 40 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Doyle, Ray Dean and Dwight Armes, and one grandson, Cameron Vancuren.
Survivors include his widow, Irene M. Armes of the home, to whom he was married June 12, 1943; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Armes of MacClenny, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Larry Vancuren of Southwest City, Mo.; one brother and sister-in-law, Clebert and Jeanetta Armes of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Velma White of Springdale and Dorothy Heiman and husband Bob of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren, Kevin Vancuren of Southwest City, Ashley Vancuren Mitchell of Joplin, Mo., Kristen Armes and Lisa Armes, both of MacClenny, Fla.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, at the Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. RueDell Smith and the Rev. Cecil Garrison officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.
Memorials may be made to the Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church building fund, 109 W. Robinson Ave., Springdale 72764.
