Kenneth "Ken" Michael Ackerman, 76, of Boise, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at a local hospital.

Born in Ontario, Oregon, November 28, 1935, Ken was the youngest of six boys and five girls to Arthur and Marilla Ackerman. Ken went to Ontario High School and excelled in all sports earning a record 13 varsity letters.

Ken was a left handed pitcher and while in baseball he played against Harmon Killebrew of Payette all four years. He attended and pitched for Oregon State and transferred two years later to play basketball for College of Idaho graduating with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education in 1959.

In his adult years he had a love/hate relationship with his golf game and was a long time member of Plantation Golf Club where he cultivated many lasting friendships.

Ken married Sue Ann Evans on February 20, 1960 and would have celebrated 52 years this month. Together they had three daughters: Cindy (Brad) Williams, Debi (Larry) Piper, Nichole (Joe) Jordan.

After graduating from C of I, Ken taught American History and Economics at Caldwell High School where he also coached football, basketball and baseball. Ken spent 30 years in banking, working at banks in Colorado, Idaho and California. He retired after an additional 14 years of real estate appraising.

Ken is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren; Heather, Kristen, Michael, Jessica, Jackie, Hailey and Kaitlin. Brother Bob, sisters Jean and Kay. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Ken's foundation was his faith of which he instilled into his family, commitment to his church and his community. Not a bad word could be said against him.

Ken's family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Doctors, Nurses and assistants of St. Luke's ICU and Telemetry wards. Their care and compassion towards Ken and his family comforted us all through this very difficult time.
