Local And Maltby Mine Workers Killed While At Work.
John R. Onions, aged 55, a miner for the Wilkes-Barre Anthracite Coal Co., was instantly killed yesterday afternoon while working in the Baltimore vein at the Smith colliery, North Pennsylvania avenue. He had prepared a shot and in attempting to fire a shot and in attempting to fire it found the wiring was bad. He investigated the trouble and while doing so the dynamite went off, killing him. His body was removed to his home, 24 Kulp avenue, where he leaves a widow and several young children.
