Mrs. Carrie Etta Meadows, 83, of Rt. 1, Elkton, widow of Wesley C. Meadows, died Friday at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since March 8.
Born February 27, 1882, she was the daughter of Alexander and Susan Breeden Meadows.
Mrs. Breeden was a member of the Methodist Church, and had spent her entire life in the Jollett community. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1936.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elvin Meadows, of Elkton; Mrs. Mark Offenbacker, of Stanley; Mrs. Ivan Taylor, of Luray; Mrs. Mildred Wood, of Free Union; and Mrs. Ora Jenkins, of Sykesville, Md.; four sons, Dewey Meadows, of Elkton, Clarence Meadows, of Stanley; David Meadows, of Luray; and Clarke Meadows, of Sykesville, Md.; forty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ella Collier and Mrs. Alfred Meadows, both of Elkton; and Mrs. Fannie Lam, of Pennsylvania; five brothers, Walter and Hilden Meadows, both of Timberville; Kern Meadows, of New Market; Delbert Meadows, of Stanley; and Grover Meadows, of Winchester.
The body was removed from the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Monday to the Jollett Bible Mission Church, where a funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. John Dubosq. Burial took place in the family cemetery.
