James Waddell, one of the aged Citizens of Webster, died of the effects of spinal trouble Sunday night. (Dec. 21, 1890)

James M. Waddell was the son of Alexander Waddell Jr. (1788-1847) and Rebecca Sharp. He was born in 1827 in Pocahontas Co, Virginia, now West Virginia, his mother dying soon after. He migrated to Gallia Co, OH with his father as a young boy, where he grew to manhood, and was married there to Elizabeth Prose on Oct 08, 1848. James and Elizabeth resided in Walnut Twp with their family of 10 children. They sold their Gallia County homestead in abt. 1871, and he and Elizabeth, with most of their children, migrated to Vernon Co. Wisconsin, where he became a successful farmer. He spent the rest of his life there and died on Sunday night, Dec 21, 1890, from the effects of severe spinal trouble. He was laid to rest in the Salem Ridge Cemetery.

James M Waddell's father, Alexander Waddell Jr., (1788-1847), remarried in Gallia County to Rachel Campbell in 1831, then migrated to Tippecanoe Co Indiana where he spent the rest of his days. He died in 1847.

James M Waddell's grandparents were Alexander Waddell (1732-1834), a Scottish immigrant and Revolutionary War Soldier, and Eleanor Roush, daughter of John Adam Roush, also a Revolutionary Soldier.
