Alexander Waddell II was the son of Scottish immigrant, Alexander Waddell Sr., a Revolutionary War Veteran, and Eleanor Roush of Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Her father, Adam Roush, was also a Revolutionary War Soldier.
Alexander Waddell II was married to Miss Rebecca Sharp there in Pocahontas County, WV, which was Bath Co. VA., at that time in history. On Dec 25, 1816, marriage bond was made by Alexander and Wm. Sharp, and on January 7, 1817, the marriage was solemnized . To this union seven children were born: Mary, Ellenor, Jane, William, John, James M, and Alexander III. Rebecca died in abt 1830, and about that time, Alexander II migrated with most of his children to Gallia Co., OH, joining his parents and other siblings who had moved there several years earlier . While there in Gallia Co, Alexander II remarried to Rachel Campbell on Oct 2, 1831. Several children were born to them: Isabelle, Rebecca, Campbell, John, Samuel, and Joseph. They migrated to Tippecanoe County, Indiana, around 1838, where they lived the rest of their lives.
After the death of Alexander II, Rachel remarried to Frederick Hanger, on Aug 6, 1848, who was also widowed. Rachel died in 1875 and is buried in Concord Cemetery there in Tippecanoe Co.
