Brother Leonidas Felix (Lester Butzman) was born in Alma, Wisconsin, and entered the Novitiate in 1933 in Glencoe, Missouri. He died on February 23, 1975, at the age of 60 in Gladstone, Michigan, and is buried in Winona, Minnesota, in St. Mary Cemetery.

Lester August Butzman was born on April 16, 1915, in Alma, Wisconsin, the son of Otto and Emma Earney Butzman. His early education took place in Prague, Wisconsin and Wabasha, Minnesota. He attended Cotter High School in Winona, Minnesota, where he first met the Christian Brothers. After only one semester at Cotter he entered the Juniorate at Glencoe, Missouri, on February 1, 1930. He entered the Novitiate on August 30, 1934 and received the habit of the Brothers and the religious name of Brother Leonidas Felix. One year later he became a scholastic and in 1935 he studied at St. Mary's College in Winona where in 1936 he received his B.D. degree. His first teaching assignment was at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1936. In 1937 he was assigned to Cretin High School in St. Paul, Minnesota and later in that same year to St. Mel High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he remained for three years. In 1940 Brother Felix was assigned as a teacher and prefect at Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1944 he returned to Winona as a student and one year later he was assigned to teach at De La Salle High School in Minneapolis. He remained there for thirteen years and in 1958 he was assigned to teach at Holy Name High School in Escanaba, Michigan. Twelve years later he became Parish Coordinator at Sacred Heart Church in Munising, Michigan. He did graduate studies at De Paul in Chicago and Avila College in Kansas City, receiving his M.S. in industrial arts from Winona State and his degree in religious education from Ecole Lembeck in Belgium. Known as "Brother Buck" by many, he died while attending Sunday morning Mass on February 23, 1975. He was sixty years of age and in his forty-fifth year as a De la Salle Christian Brother.
