Benedict Wehlage Jr., Minnesota City, Minn., died at home on Friday, December 10, 2004.

He was born in Wabasha, Minn., on July 19, 1928, to Benedict and Emma (Earney) Butzmann- Wehlage.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan (Teska) Wehlage; sons, Ralph and Timothy, William (Robyn), Frederick (Jackie) and Benedict III (Reema); daughters, Gretchen and Kristina.; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bonita (Butzman) Nistler of Prineville, Ore., Betty (Wehlage) O'Connor of Bend, Ore., and Meryl (Wehlage) Krohse of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Ralph Oscar Butzmann who died in 1944 in England in WWII and Brother Lester (Felix) Butzman of Escanaba, Michigan.

Ben was a body mechanic for 15 years. He then worked as a custodian-engineer for School District 861 at Jefferson School for 25 years.

He has donated his body to Mayo Foundation in Rochester. He will be cremated. Family and friends will gather to honor Ben at a later date. Ben may have lost his battle with cancer, but he never lost his sense of humor.

Note: his mothers first husband Otto Butzmann Died in 1920 in Winona.
