A native of Oklahoma City, OK and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Ackal died on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 12:50 AM. Jeannette was a beautiful person who lived her life with dignity and grace. She was a wonderful and giving mother, grandmother, wife and friend. Vivacious and outgoing, Jeannette loved to be amongst family and was never too busy to come to the aid of a friend in need. Her love of cooking was superseded only by sharing her meals with those closest to her. She enjoyed her years as a member of Fortnightly and Les Jeunes Amis and reigned as Queen of The Mystic Krewe of Iberians. One of her greatest pleasures was the time she spent playing cards with her many friends. To Jeannette, life was a celebration to be lived day by day. Her love of life was contagious to all those around her. Her courage and resolution with which she fought her illness was and will always be an inspiration to all who knew her.

Ackal of Lafayette; her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Zachary and her husband Patrick of Hattisburg, MS, Mary Catherine Ackal of Lafayette and Michelle Dabdoub and her husband Alan of Dallas, TX; her brother, Dr. A.
