He was born May 25, 1935, in Collinwood, Tenn., and came to Palmetto in 1978 from Caruthersville, Mo. He retired as a cullet handler for Tropicana after 16 years.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ann; daughters Denise Bellagamba and Maribeth Brinton, both of Bradenton; sons Mike and Mark, both of St. Louis, Roger of Englewood, Russell Chernugel of Palmetto and Richard Chernugel of Duette; sisters Grace West, Mabel Daniels and Nadine Pigg, all of Collinwood, and Shirley Smoke of Iron City, Tenn.; a brother, Glen Cummings of Savannah, Tenn.; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, with the service following, at Kicliter Funeral Home, Palmetto. Burial will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens.
