She was born in Patrick County on March 29, 1923 to the late Charlie and Ellen Bowman
Bowman.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Hicks, and a brother, Granville Bennie Barnard.
Surviving are two sons, Don Hicks of Martinsville and Dennis Hicks of Mount Airy; and six sisters, Violet Midkiff, Phoebe Baskins, Lucille Callahan, Oma Lee Hawks, Jokie Martin and Sylvia Large.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Moody Funeral Home chapel in Mount Airy with the Rev. Tim Burton and Dr. David Sparks officiating. Burial was in Skyline Memory Gardens.
