Clyde "Burgie" Prout Jr.
1951 - 2012


Burgie was born on February 19, 1951 in Colfax, Calif., to Lola and Clyde Prout Sr., the second of 10 children, and the first son. He grew up in Colfax all his life and worked in logging for over 10+ years and did landscaping before finally settling down and marrying his wife Nancy.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and drumming with the family Drum Group "Niki-Esko" and was an active and productive member of the Colfax-Todds Valley Consolidated Tribe. He was also the lead foreman among the families of the Colfax Indian Cemetery to take lead over the burials a traditional way handed down to him by his elders.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Prout Sr., Lola (Gilbert) Prout; his sisters, Elizabeth Gour, Clara Moman, Laura Armbruster; his brother, Richard Prout, and his wife Nancy (Hayes) Prout.
He is survived by his son, Clyde Prout III of Roseville; three brothers, Jonathon Prout of Rocklin, Timothy Prout Sr. Auburn, and Steven Prout of Roseville; and two sisters, Kimberley Armbruster of Auburn, and Geraldine Camp of Roseville. He also has over 30 nieces and nephews, 30+ great-niece and nephews, and three great-great-niece and nephews plus many relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held Friday February 10, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lassilas Funeral Chapel, 551 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn, CA. 95603.
