Baby Mattie Elizabeth Sibley, daughter of Ira Taylor and Hester Americus Maples Sibley, only lived slightly more than a month past her first birthday. According to a note from an immediate family member, her mother gave birth to thirteen babies, and from the records, it's known that seven of the Sibley children survived past childhood.

Paternal grandparents were Mills J Sibley and Emma Virginia Cobb. Maternal grandparents were John Preston Maples and Eva Virginia Chandler.
