BENDER - Clair Milton, 85, Patton, died April 2, 2006, at home. He was born March 9, 1921, in Clearfield Township, the son of William and Mary (Dishart) Bender. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sisters, Leona Holtz, Helen Hahn, William Bender, Louise Stewart and Marie Peters. He is survived by his wife, Mildred "Penny" (Anna) Bender, whom he married on Oct. 30, 1944; children, Joan Stasik (Walter), Gibsonia; Jim Bender (Eileen Pallone), Terry Bender (Kim Peters), Karen Powell (Ray "Skip"), Laureen "Lori" Holtz (Jeff) and Tom Bender, all of Patton; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a 1939 graduate of Patton High School and retired as a foreman from PennDOT. He was also the owner/operator of Grandview Dairy, following his father's retirement. He was a member of the Farm Bureau; Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he served as an usher; former Holy Name Society; and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming and his family. He was awarded "Century Farm" recognition by the state for 100 years of continuous family farm ownership. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, by Benedictine Fathers. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery.
