H. B. Alverson died at his home, one mile south of Hanley, Thursday morning, August 27th, aged 87. The deceased was a native of Garrard county. At the age of 16 he went to work at the blacksmith and wagonmaking trade under George Hackley, serving seven years apprenticeship. In 1853, Mr. Alverson was married to Emily Harris and located at Sulphur Well, where he remained until 1872, when he bought a home near Hanly, where he resided until his death. The funeral took place Friday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. W. F. Taylor conducting the services, after which the remains were brought to Nicholasville and interred in Maple Grove Cemetery. Sept. 4, 1903 issue of The Jessamine Journal.
