Turner was the son of Warren Tucker Johnson and Mary (Mattie) Katherine Nancy Hardin. He was born in Jackson, MS. Turner married three times. He married #1 Connie Clark 11 Nov., 1949 in MS. and divorced on 10 Dec., 1951.(no Children)#2 Mildred Ann Davis in Jackson, MS.on 01 Dec, 1951 and divorced in Mar. 1952(no Children).#3 Stella Justa Balboa married on 19, Sept., 1953 in San Antonio, TX. Turner and Stella had four daughters. Helen Myrle Johnson, Stella Ann Johnson, Christine Dolores Johnson and Mary Katherine Johnson. They divorced on 30, Sept, 1963 in Jackson, MS. They remarried on 28, Nov. 1963 in San Antonio, TX. They lived in Universal City TX. where Turner later became a Police dispatcher. They later moved to Cibolo TX. Turner became a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Universal City. TX. Turner loved hunting and fishing. He raised beagles while living in MS. and loved to go hunting for squirrels, rabbits, and raccoons. He also had a collection of hunting rifles. Turner died of lung cancer at the early age of 54 in the Audie Murphy Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was surrounded by his wife, four daughters, grandchildren and other friends and family.

Turner enlisted in the U.S. Army on 14, Feb., 1947. He had orders on that same day from unit 3704th Aaf BU, Keesler Field, MS. and was sent to AGFTC, Ft. Jackson S.C. On April 9th through the 14th, 1947.He was stationed on May 8, 1947 at Ft. McClellan, Ala. On May 30th, 1947 Turner went on furlough. On June 17th he gets sent to Repl. Branch CP.Kilmer, N.J. Turner was only in Basic for four months. Service from 2,Feb., 1947 through 24,June, 1947. He was discharged after they finally realized that he was not of age. He was only 16 years old. Discharged Honorable. Turner reenlisted on 7 Aug., 1951. He was stationed in Fort Jackson, SC. He was in the HQ3431st ASU RC, then Co.,I 28th Inf., then Med Co., 28th Inf. On Mar, 1952 Turner gets sent to 3217 ASU REPL. CTR.(Pipeline) at Ft. Lawson, WN. Then he is sent to Camp Drake Repl. Dep.APO 673. In April he flies to Seattle, US arriving in Japan on 22, Apr., 1952. On 27 Apr., 1952 he flies to Pusan Korea arriving 28, Apr. 1952. His Combat record shows him in the "Battle of Second Korean Winter" from 28 Apr., 1952 through 30 Apr., 1952 and also "Korea Summer -Fall", 1 May 1952 through 2 Oct., 1952. Turner's duty assignment was 552nd MP. (Military Police) Escort Guard Co. In Oct 1952 Turner gets wounded in his upper right leg and is transported from Korea 30,Oct. 1952 to Medica Hold Det.,PNT.SEC,141st Gen. Hop. APO. From there he flies to Medical Hol., Brook Army Hospital Fort Sam Houston, TX. Turner has to have his leg amutated after developing gangrene.He stays in the Hospital through July.On 31, Aug. 1953 he is Honorably discharged from Fort Sam Houston.Turner received the Korean Service Medal, The UN Service Medal, two Bronze Service Stars and a letter of appreciation from "The Republic of Korea" signed by Kim Dae-jung President of the Republic of Korea.
