He was born on May 21, 1924 in Owatonna, Minnesota, the son of Andrew an Pearl (Erdmann) Anhorn. The family moved to Osage when he was a child and he graduated from Osage High School in 1941.
Mr. Anhorn served in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper, was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war until April, 1945.
On November 18, 1948, he married Darlene Woodiwiss in Osage.
He worked for Osage Feed and Seed, Decklever Ready Mix, and was a mail carrier for the post office since 1960. Mr. Anhorn was a member of the Osage American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Randi (Kathy) Vining of Osage; four sons: Michael and Scott, both of Cedar Rapids, Jack of Waterloo, and Steve of Osage; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Anhorn of Osage; a special friend, Belle Boyer of Jesup; two sisters, Mrs. John (Berneice) Volk of Chicago, and Mrs. Robert (Darlene) Thompson of Jesup; a brother, Reuben of West Des Moines; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; his wife, Darlene; and by one brother, Wayne.
