From Roscoe Leak's history of the Lizton Christian Church in discussing the first frame barn built around 1840 across the road from the Blair McCrosky Tavern: " 'Pack' (J. P.) Alexander, a son of Arch. Alexander and a brother-in-law of Mr. McCrosky, was a small boy then and was around where the men were at work a great deal. Some carpenters were making fun of the mortices and said they needed salting. One day while the men were at dinner, 'Pack' acted on the suggestion of the carpenters and salted the mortices. The barn stood till about 1903 and some said that is the reason it stood so long." Later this history records "J. P. Alexander and D. C. Lane had a store in town (Lizton) in 1859."

The history of the Amos Commodore Weaver family on pages 610-612 of the 1976 Hendricks County history records "Amanda Jane Weaver was the first to wed, marrying James P. Alexander on April 25, 1852. James was the son of Archibald Alexander, state senator in 1842 and a prominent Hendricks County citizen. She died five years later, leaving two small children, Alice, who later married Dr. James H. Brill, and Thomas Jefferson, both of whom were reared in the home of their grandparents (Thomas and Anna Weaver)."
