Margaret Griswold, age 78, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
Joan was born October 16, 1933 to Henry and Doris (Fairfield) Whisler in Muskegon. On June 14, 1952 she married William F. Griswold in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1986.

She attended Fruitport Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of the Muskegon Association for the Deaf where she was a past board member and held various positions. Joan never allowed her deafness to interfere with living a full life. She bowled for many years at Northway Lanes and attended bowling tournaments throughout the state. Joan is survived by her loving family, Barbara (William) Johnson and Sue (Roger) Gould of Norton Shores, William 'Buzz' (Laurie) Griswold of Whitehall, Robert 'Bob' (Melinda) Griswold and Terri (Scott Michael) Sobish of Norton Shores; 14 grandchildren, Jacob Messinger, Adam (Tessa) Messinger, Casey (Roger) Jourden, Taylor Johnson, Tracy (Jim) Johnson, Dan (Lisa) Rust, Bryan (Julie) Rust, Steven Rust, Jenna Rust, Kelli (Tom) Clock, Leslie Griswold, Adrienne Rummler, Jodi Sobish and Traci Sobish; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Whisler of Muskegon; sisters, Jerri Cromley of Muskegon, Shirley (Bob) Hegedus of Cedar Springs, Donna (Rudy) Schaub of Sun City, FL; sister-in-law, Cookie Whisler; 2 foster sons, Tom and John Roswell; and many, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to William Griswold, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Edward 'Eddie' Whisler; her parents; and her special friend, Connie Rock. Her FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2012 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Avenue. 231 726-5210, with Rev. Pam Koebel officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service (Noon to 1pm). Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of West Michigan.
