John Samuel Carter was born March 8, 1868 in Springville, Utah, the son of William H. & Cordelia Lane Carter. He married Zella Blackett, daughter of Robert & Matilda Ann Ostler Blackett, on July 31, 1895. They were the parents of four children: Robert William, Madge, Myrl, Helen and and infant son (both Helen and the last son were stillborn). John died November 22, 1930 in Springville.
