Cordelia Lane, and twin sister Ciscelia Lane, were born February 10, 1848 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughters of William West Lane & second wife Maria Burr (Clark) Lane. Her parents both died on the trek to Utah, and she was raised by half-brother Davis Clark. She married William Huntington Carter, son of Samuel & Hannah Huntington Carter, October 15, 1865 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were the parents of eight children. Cordelia died December 4, 1936 at the home of her daughter Clora Wilson, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

DEATH CLAIMS DELIA CARTER

SPRINGVILLE-funeral services for Mrs. Delia Carter, 84, widow of William Carter, pioneer resident of Springville, will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Third ward chapel. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Mrs. Carter who died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. Chloe Wilson in Salt Lake City was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in 1852. She came to Utah with her half-brother, Davis Clark, after her parents died on the plains.

She was an active Latter-day Saint all her life.

Surviving are one son, S.H. Carter, Price; a daughter, Mrs. Wilson, Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Emma Dunham, Dunlap, Iowa.
