Miss Grace M. Witwer, 69, of Indianapolis, died in Marion County General Hospital late Wednesday from injuries received when hit by a car earlier in the day. She retired two years ago from private duty nursing and was Nurse of the State in 1956.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Harold Lewis, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. C. E. Guenin, Monroeville; and a brother, Homer J. Witwer, Alvordton, Ohio. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Meridian Street Methodist Church. Burial will be in Casey Cemetery, Casey, Ill."

A woman injured fatally when she was struck by a car at 38th and Illinois street Wednesday was identified yesterday as Miss Grace Witwer, 69 years old, 3340 North Meridian Street, Apt. 106, who was Indiana Nurse of the Year in 1956.
The body was identified by Lawrence Johnson, a great-nephew, police said. The auto was driven by Mrs. Mary Davie, 1120 Cornell Avenue, according to police.
A NATIVE of Casey, Ill., Miss Witwer had been an Indianapolis resident 45 years. She was a registered nurse who was serving on private duty when she retired two years ago.
She was chosen for the annual outstanding nursing award in the Indiana State Nurses Association.
Miss Witwer was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and a member of Meridian Street Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Meridian Street Methodist Church. Burial will be in Casey, Ill. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at Flanner and Buchanan Broad Ripple Mortuary.
