REWEY, Wis. -- Carol Elaine Brown, 78, of Rewey, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at United Methodist Church, Rewey, with Pastor Peter Berg officiating. Burial will be at Rock Church Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

She was born on June 2, 1933, in the Welsh Settlement near Rewey, daughter of T. Ralph and Dorothy (Davis) Thomas. Carol graduated from Rewey High School in 1950.

She was married to Boyd Brown, and their marriage was blessed with three children. Carol lived her entire life in the Rewey area, and she was very involved in the community and in her church.

She was employed at the Iowa County Home, Amphenol Controls in Dodgeville, and the Iowa-Grant School District, from which she retired in 2000.

Family and friends were the most important things in Carol's life. She was an outstanding cook and baker, and many people enjoyed the treats she loved to make. She enjoyed making special cookies for her family during the holiday season. Carol also loved her flowers and gardens, and her pretty yard and gardening talents were appreciated by all who visited her home. She also was an enthusiastic supporter of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers athletics. Surviving are her children, Sandra Brown, Marsha (Joseph) Biddick and Thomas (Lois) Brown; her grandchildren, David Biddick and Jennifer (Bob) Dais; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Michael Dais; by her "grandpets," Buddy, Cat-Cat and Charlie; a sister-in-law, Joyce Heisserer; a special cousin, Ann Williams; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends and those in her church community.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Boyd; her parents; her brother, Gerald Thomas; and her in-laws, Beulah Thomas, Jack Heisserer and Avis and Clarence Lossin.
