Marvin D. ANDERSON, 69, Rt. 2, Rochester, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at his home following several months of illness.
He was born in Delong to D.C. and Opal FISHER ANDERSON. On Feb. 13, 1953 in Crown Point he married Teresa A. "Terry" SCHUCK, who survives.
A retired Air Force master sereant, he was flight engineer of a B-17 bomber that participated in the first daylight raid over Berlin during World War II. His plane was one of three which were shot down. He was captured and was a prisoner of war for 14 months. He served 24 years with the Strategic Air Command of the Air Force, and received a Purple Heart Medal and several Bronze Star Medals.
Following the war, he was a civilian military representative with McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis. He was a member of the First Presbterian Church, the Masonic Lodge and the South Bend Scottish Rite.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Kathy Lee ANDERSON, Rochester; Dolores ANDERSON, Ottawa, Kan., and Mrs. Jon (Terri Jo) ASHLINE, St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren; his father, D.C. ANDERSON, Peabody Retirement Center of North Manchester; a sister, Mrs. C.E. (Coleen) VAUGHN, Houston, Mo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Chrch with the Rev. Jonn RAMSEY officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, Rochester, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. The Rochester American Legion and VFW wil conduct military graveside rites. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Fulton County Library.
