Margaret Elizabeth Jessup, 82, who was better known as Miss Bettle Jessup, of Chester, died Sept. 18 in Coleman Hospital, after one month's illness. Services were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at Chester Baptist I Church with Rev Delmas Parkerson officiating and Townsend Brothers Funeral Home directing . Burial followed at North View Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews Olan Jessup,Willard Jessup,Tully Jessup,Ben Jessup,Ray Jessup,and Ivey Lee Jessup. Miss Jessup, who was born and reared in Laurens County, was a member of the Chester Baptist Church and had been a resident of Chester for many years.She was very active in the social and religious welfare of her community for many years and
leaves many friends and relatives In Dodge and Laurens Counties. Among other survivors are one brother J. L. Jessup, of Greensboro, N. C; two sisters, Mrs. G H Phillips, of Thomaston and Mrs T.J. Witherington of Dexter, nephews, Dr.Fred J.Coleman and Tennyson Coleman, and Olan Jessup, of Dublin and a host of other nephews and nieces.
