Adam Burant, 85, a pioneer resident of this town of Sharon, died unexpectedly at his home Friday afternoon at 5:45 o'clock. He had been ailing in health for the past year.

Mr. Burant, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burant, early day settlers of Portage county, was born in Poland on March 23, 1856. He came to the United States with his parents 70 years ago. The family located at Milwaukee and four years later came to Sharon, where Adam Burant had since resided.

Mr. Burant was formerly a side supervisor of his town, was treasurer of his school district, No 9 for 22 years and served a period of years as treasurer of Sacred Heart Catholic church at Polonia. He was an active member of the parish and was an usher in the church for many years.

His marriage to Magdaline Bender took place in 1882. She died 12 years later. Mr. Burant married Anna Guida of Bevent on May 28, 1895. He is survived by his wife and 16 children. Four children preceded him in death. His surviving sons and daughters are: Mrs. Alois Mullen, Wausau; Mrs. Joseph Wesnieski, Mrs. J P Laikasavitz, Joseph F Burant, Mrs. Adolph Glanzmann, Mrs. Lawrence Scholtz and Mrs. James Metrie, Milwaukee; John A Burant of Foley, Minnesota; Mrs. Frank Yelinski of Wittenberg; Mrs. Dominic Koziczkowski of St Paul, MN; Mrs. John Zillman of Cudahy; Mrs. Emil Repinski of Custer; Mrs. Albert Zagrzebski of Stevens Point; Frank D and Max A Burant at home and Edwin Burant, who was inducted on Friday and returned home on two weeks furlough. Mr. Burant was the last surviving member of a family of eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at Sacred Heart church. The body will be at the family home until the time of the funeral. The rosary will be said tonight and Sunday night at 8 o'clock at the home.
