James Austin Chaney, Obituary

PIONEER PASSES
James Chaney, 63, died Monday November 10, at his farm home in Clearwater township, one mile north of Rapid City. He was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, July 22, 1878, and came with his parents to Michigan, settling in Kalkaska county in 1880 and has since resided here. He was the youngest of seven children and never married. As a young man he was employed in the lumber woods. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Laura Munro, of Elk Rapids, and Mrs. Cora Copeland, of Williamsburg, two brothers, Sam Chaney, of Williamsburg and William Chaney of Rapid City. Funeral services were held at the Berg Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. E. C. Eldred officiating, with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
