1857 - 1931

Mrs. Elizabeth Sumner, 74, widow of James Sumner, died Monday [August 10, 1931] at the home of her son, James Sumner, 232 West First North Street [Provo, Utah], following a heart attack.

Born in Liverpool, England, January 8, 1857, she joined the LDS Church [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] there in 1891 and came to Utah with her family in 1892, settling here.

Four sons survive: William Sumner, Bakersfield, California; Thomas Sumner, Los Angeles, California; C J Sumner, Richfield; James Sumner, Provo; one daughter, Mrs. J H Steele, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Fourth Ward Chapel Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with interment in Provo City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Sumner who died of a heart attack Monday [August 10, 1931], will be held in the Provo Fourth Ward Chapel, Thursday at 1:30. Friends may call prior to the services at the home of her son, James Sumner, 232 West First North Street.

Mrs. Sumner joined the Church [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] in England in 1891. She was born in Liverpool, Jan 8, 1857. She came to Utah in 1892 with her husband, James Sumner, who died nine months ago.

She is survived by four sons; William Sumner, Bakersfield, Calif; Thomas Sumner, Los Angeles, California; James Sumner, Provo; and C J Sumner, Richfield; one daughter, Mrs. J H Steele, Idaho Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
