My notes had her name down as Zelman Rozetta (Thurman) Hillhouse. This information must have been provided to me somehow. My writing. It had something to do with the Hillhouse Dickey Genealogy and the start of the note says she needs Uncle Elmers family. This would have been written about the 1970's when I was with mother doing some of the research and we met Bessie and family.

As I went through my mothers papers I found this picture with her and Frank on the Golden Wedding Anniversary. The letter is dated April 24, 1963. picture dated 1951or 2 I am not able to tell, but I think it was a 2 with the 1 over it. Looks to be anyway.
Said it was taken a year before Frank passed away. It appears as some confusion about dates. Says Aunt Rose Hillhouse was 6 yrs. younger than Grandma Backus. Frank is Ella's brother, so would be my mothers Uncle. They moved to Colorado.
Letter says:
Dear Nettie I sure was surprised to receive your letter but pleased. I've often thought of you folks but didn't know where you were. I was thinking of your mother just before you wrote the last time. I saw her was when I went to Iowa with two of my children and your mother went home with me. that was when we lived near Lamar. Your Grandma stayed with Frank and the other children so I could go and see my mother and father. Grandma went back home with your mother and she took Delmar (my boy) with her. it was the fall of the year, you folks were making malassas. Uncle Charlie and David and family visited us about three years ago. I don't he or from any of the family since Aunt Mary and Uncle Elmer passed away, I do hear fro Esther Needels and Olin each Christmas. will be glad to have you and your daughter stay and visit with me next month. I have 5 children in Colo Springs. the other 5 are scattered from wash. D.C. to Calif. We are having a late spring trees are just leafing out grass is green is real dry here we don't have much rain have to depent (was mispelled) on watering with a hose, the farmers irrigate some have deep wells and sprinkle the ground. some places in Colo are better farm land than right here close to Colo Springs it don't get very cold in winter we ony had a few days of real cold weather last winter it is real nice in summer. I am in fairly good health I was sick a lot a few years ago I had such high blood pressure but am better now I am 77 10 years younger than your mother, does she live near you. I would like to hear from her is she is able to write. Its hard for me to write letters I don't do much letter writing only to my own children. wish you would let me know when you will be here so I will be sure to be at home. I don't go much except to church and to see some of the children who live here I hope I ans. all your questions. I may have forgot some of them if so I will tell you all when you get here. I'm looking forward seeing you so don't disapoint me. Your Aunt Rosa Hillhouse.

* my note to clarify, Nettie was my grandmother, and the note mentions Ella Bachus, she was the mother of Nettie and obviously my great grandmother.
