Mrs. Henry Kortner

Shannon - Mrs. Henry Kortner, a resident of Shannon since 1914, died Sunday morning at a Freeport hospital. She was 82 years old.

She was the former Martha Schwarze, born Sept. 2, 1878, the daughter of Frederick and Sophia Schwarze.

She was married to Henry Kortner on March 15 1899 at Ebenezer Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillian, at home, Mrs. Oscar Brinkmeier, Apple River, and Mrs. Mable Baldauf, Pearl City; and a sister, Mrs. Louise Honken, who is a patient at the Dubach-Thomas Nursing Home in Freeport. There are three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Rev. Robert Ahrendt, pastor of the Ebenezer UCC will officiate. Burial will be in the Ebenezer cemetery. The body was taken to the Scharmann Funeral Home in Shannon. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
