"Shannon, Ill. Nov. 6 - Henry Kortner, 64 a former resident of Loran township, passed away Saturday afternoon in a Freeport hospital shortly after he had suffered a heart attack in the office of a physician at Lena. He was taken to Freeport in an ambulance, accompanied by his wife and daughter, Miss Lillian Kortner, He had just entered the physician's office at Lena when he was stricken.

Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the home and at 2 o'clock from Eben Ezer Evangelical church. Rev. Max Schroedel, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Kortner was born Nov. 28, 1874 in Loren township, Stephenson county, the son of Frederick and Louisa Kortner. He was married March 15 1899 to Miss Martha Schwarze at Ebenezer Evangelical church near Pearl City.

After farming for a number of years in Loren township, the family moved to Shannon 25 years ago and have lived here since. He had been a member of Ebenezer Evangelical church since his youth.

Surviving are his widow; three daughters, Lillian, at home, and Mrs. Arthur Baldauf, Pearl City and Mrs. Oscar Brinkmeier, Granton, Wis., a sister, Mrs. Henrietta Kloepping, Pearl City; a brother Conrad Kortner, Freeport, and a half sister, Miss Anna Kortner, Dixon.

Henry Kortner, 64, lifelong resident of Shannon and vicinity, died Saturday afternoon in a Freeport hospital where he had been taken after suffering a heart attack a short time earlier as he entered the office of a Lena physician.
Funeral rites were held Tuesday afternoon at the home and at the Ebenezer Evangelical church with the Rev. Max Schroedel officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Kortner was born Nov. 28, 1874, in Loran township, Stephenson county, the son of Frederick and Louisa Kortner. After farming for some years, the family moved to Shannon where they had resided for the last 25 years.
