Frederick's biological mother was Rosine (Breckle) Patrone-Grant, F-A-G memorial #57529432. The Vetter estate was contested and went to the Supreme Court, and "The Recorder," (a newspaper in San Francisco, California dated Nov. 5, 1925 on page 6 and 7), found that Rosine (Breckle) Patrone was indeed the mother of Frederick Vetter, and family testified that Alfred Vetter was the father. A witness, Mrs. Becker, testified that Alfred Vetter told her that Frederick was his son and that had sought her aid to convince his wife Caroline to adopt his illegitimate son that he had with her sister. A half sibling of Frederick Vetter's also stated that Frederick was the son of Albert Vetter and her mother Rosine (Breckle) Patrone-Grant.

When Frederick died this went to the courts as his second wife Anna (Wagner) Vetter proclaimed there were no surviving heirs, (yet he did have half siblings in Stanislaus County, California that contested the estate). Anna Vetter, (the second wife of Frederick Vetter), was a domestic in the Frederick Vetter household when Frederick was married to Mary Louise (Taylor) Vetter. Frederick married Anna Wagner three months after his wife's death. The case went on for over 10 years, with ultimately a settlement, and the half-siblings receiving a portion of the Vetter estate.
