Delpha M. Cogil, the daughter of Easton and Hannah Schwestahl Jones, was born January 4, 1906 at Aurora, Nebraska. She passed away at Aurora Memorial Hospital of a heart attack on April 15, 1981, at the age of 75. She grew up in Aurora, graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1924. She then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, after which she taught at various rural schools in Nebraska.
On November 3, 1935, she and Boyd W. Cogil were united in marriage at Buffalo Gap, South Dakota. The were residents of Long Pine and Chadron before moving to Aurora in March of 1973, upon the retirement of Mr. Cogil from the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Mrs. Cogil became a member of the Order of Eastern Star in February 1939 at Long Pine, Nebraska. She transferred her membership to the Aurora Chapter in June of 1976. She had served as Worthy Matron, Supervisor and was the Grand Chaplain of Nebraska in 1951. She was an active member of the Federated Church in Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elma Hiatt and Ada Kissel, infant brother Clarence and brothers Ralph, Clifton, Ivan and Howard. Mrs. Cogil is survived by her husband, Boyd of Aurora; a son Roger of Palatine, Illinois; daughter Jolene Cogil of Denver, Colorado; brother Carl Jones of Carson City, Nevada; two granddaughters, Cindy and Kathy Cogil of Palatine, Illinois and nieces and nephews.
