Funeral services were held Tuesday Sept. 29th, for Mrs. Marie Phaneuf, 75, who died at her home here, Friday. Rev. L. C. Smith officiated and internment took place at the Dorchester cemetery.
Marie Nelson, daughter of Thelof and Ingebar Nelson was born May 8, 1861 at Port Washington. She was married to Gunder Johnson August 4, 1882, who died Feb. 4, 1908. In 1912 she was married to Oscar Phaneuf who died in 1924.
Mrs. Phaneuf formerly lived on a farm two and one-half miles northwest of Abbotsford, but in 1917 she moved with her husband to this village. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Surviving are one son, Iver Johnson, Medford, and six step children, Miss Bessie Phaneuf, Chippewa Falls, Charles Phaneuf, Washington; Mrs. Hazel Wilhelme, Mrs. Grayce Lundahl, Gordon Phaneuf, Abbotsford and Mrs. Blanche Belle, Chippewa Falls.
Floral offerings were in charge of Mesdames Louis Miller, Calvin Hills, H. D. Kennedy, Wm. Berry, H. H. ? and Miss Jessie Merrill.
The pallbearers were Wm. Fecker, Theodore Lenz, Edward Hamberger, Herman Fiebig, William Nagel and Walter Fults.
